Analog: The most popular logfile analyser
in the world
There isn't much data on which is the most widely-used logfile analyser.
Computing magazines' surveys usually only ask about commercial packages. The
only survey which has ever asked about all the main packages by name is
GVU's user survey, which
consistently ranked analog number one.
In the
most
recent survey, they
interviewed 434 webmasters in October & November 1998 and
found that 24.9% used analog. The next
most popular program was used by 20.3% of webmasters. Counting only webmasters
who used any logfile analyser, analog's figure rises to over 29%.
